Eddisons - Get it right

Sale of Landmark Hotel Complex

The Leeds office of chartered surveyors Eddisons has completed the sale of a landmark hotel complex in North Yorkshire.

The Scotch Corner Hotel which occupies a prominent position at the junction of the A1 and the A66 has been bought by a private hotel operator off an asking price of £3million.

It comprises a two and three storey hotel and leisure complex including 90 bedrooms, a restaurant and conference facilities for up to 450 delegates.

Eddisons were appointed as LPA receivers by the Bank of Scotland and concluded the sale within just 4 weeks of the instruction being received.

The firm used a number of its internal departments to deal with the disposal, including Valuation Services, Agency, Machinery and Business Assets and Building Consultancy.

Anthony Spencer, Director in Valuation Services at Eddisons said: ‘We are delighted to have concluded the sale so quickly and in doing so have achieved an excellent result for all interested parties.

‘The fact that we were able to draw on the expertise of our specialist in-house departments contributed significantly to the speed of the sale.’

Eddisons have also announced the sale of the former Lancashire Manor Hotel on the outskirts of Wigan on behalf of the Bank of Scotland. The deal was concluded in a very short timeframe and raised just under £1m.

Meanwhile, at the end of 2009 Eddisons acted as LPA receivers over the Yang Sing Hotel in Manchester which was sold for around £4m.
