Sale of Clariant Site

The Leeds office of chartered surveyors Eddisons has completed the sale of the former Clariant industrial complex in the Aire Valley.

Clariant UK Ltd, the UK subsidiary of the Swiss based chemical multi-national announced in summer 2008 the closure of their Leeds manufacturing plant and the relocation of their UK head office.

The 48 acre site on Calverley Lane, Horsforth has been bought for an undisclosed sum by Harrow Estates Plc who are now exploring redevelopment opportunities.

Cheshire based Harrow Estates Plc are part of the Bridgemere Group of Companies and one of the country’s leading master developers.

Simon Croft of Eddisons said: ‘Despite coming to market in very tough trading conditions there was a lot of interest and we were able to conclude the deal quickly, which reflected the prime location of the site.’

Eddisons has also worked with Clariant to secure new premises for their UK headquarters.

‘Having identified potential locations we were able to take advantage of favourable leasing conditions to secure 8,000 sq ft of office space at Rawdon Park, Yeadon, close to Leeds/Bradford International Airport,’ said Simon Croft.

In addition to finding new premises, the firm oversaw an extensive fit out and liaised with the landlord to ensure the property was in good repair and satisfied all current legislation.

Simon Croft concluded: ‘In a very short period of time we have provided Clariant with a complete relocation service including the disposal of their existing site, identification of new offices and full project management.’
